Ambassador of Georgia presents credentials to President Gokhool

His Excellency Mr Roland Beridze, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, presented his credentials to His Excellency Mr Dharambeer Gokhool G.C.S.K., President of the Republic of Mauritius, on 06 May 2025 at the State House.

He was accompanied by Mr Uday Kumar Gujadhur, Honorary Consul of Georgia in Mauritius.

Bilateral ties, which were established in 2011 and have since been very cordial through shared values of democracy, peace and good governance, were reviewed. Views were also exchanged on existing cooperation in the commerce, cultural, economic and technical sectors.

Various initiatives that aim to modernize the Georgian economy, as well as to strengthen multilateral ties with the Asian and European continents and reinforce its potential to act as a strategic hub between Europe and Asia due to its geographical location, were elaborated.

Avenues to strengthen the Mauritius-Georgia collaboration, notably in regard to the digitalisation of public service; sports, tourism, culture and commerce, were also talked about.

During his meeting with Ambassador Beridze, President Gokhool brought forth considerations for the setting up of a potential general framework agreement with the aim of deepening partnership between the two countries in various sectors of mutual interest.

With Mauritius being surrounded by a vast Exclusive Economic Zone of 2.3 million square kilometres, strategies to further consolidate emerging activities of the Mauritian Blue Economy, notably seabed exploration, were equally discussed.
