Community welfare, peace-building, and application of AI in research evaluation

President Dharambeer Gokhool had a fruitful meeting with the NGO l’Escalier International City of Peace, notably:
-Mr Chelvin Ramsamy, president and official Peace Ambassador;
-Mr Mahadev Bheeca,
-Mr Nicole Charles, and
-Mrs Shalini Chettiar,
at the State House today.
The village of l’Escalier was proclaimed as an “International City of Peace” in Mauritius on 23 June 2020 by the US-based International Cities of Peace Organisation, a first-of-its-kind distinction for Mauritius.
Views were exchanged views about various aspects of the village and activities of the organisation, such as blood donations, sensitisation campaigns, and environmental clean-ups in collaboration with the Omnicane Foundation and other NGOs, as well as the crucial role they play in fostering community welfare and peace-building.
In his meeting with Dr Mike Thelwall, Professor of Data Science at the University of Sheffield, UK, President Gokhool discussed the application of Artificial Intelligence in research evaluation and explored avenues for future collaboration in the formulation of a national research strategy roadmap.
Professor Thelwall was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Saheeda Thelwall; Professor Robin Nunkoo and Mrs Naveli Nunkoo, as well as Professor Boopen Seetanah from the University of Mauritius.
