President Gokhool underscores the need for a resilient and people-centered healthcare system with WHO Representative Dr Anne Ancia
His Excellency Mr Dharambeer Gokhool G.C.S.K. welcomed Dr Anne-Marie Ancia, Representative of the World Health Organisation to Mauritius, at the State House this morning.
Discussions focused on various policies, strategies and priorities that need to be addressed towards building and consolidating a resilient and people-centered healthcare system to better protect and save lives.
Conversations equally centered on:
1. The importance of systematic early screening of diseases and illnesses;
2. The need to adopt comprehensive multi-lateral and multi-sectoral strategies in dealing with health challenges,
3. Institutional preparedness to prevent and respond to health emergencies,
4. Implementation of targeting campaigns for health awareness, especially, among children, youths and parents, and
5. Harmonizing WHO technical and financial assistance in line with the Government Programme 2025-29 and the Health Sector Strategic Plan 2025-30.
President Gokhool also expressed the Government’s appreciation to the WHO for its invaluable contribution in assisting Mauritius through various initiatives and capacity building efforts towards a sustainable and innovative health sector.
