The two dignitaries also explored opportunities to further enhance cooperation in critical sectors, notably sustainable development, aquaculture, the Blue Economy, food safety, and biosecurity.
Particular emphasis was laid on combating plastic pollution, keeping in mind New Zealand’s expertise in tackling the issue.
Conversations also centered on the education sector, particularly a mutual interest in fostering academic exchange via the potential establishment of higher educational institutions by New Zealand in Mauritius.
The possibility of negotiating a Free Trade Agreement to stimulate economic growth and trade, as well as strategies to strengthen people-to-people ties through enhanced visa facilitation, cultural exchange, and greater mobility between citizens of Mauritius and New Zealand, were elaborated.
