





President Dharambeer Gokhool engaged in a fruitful discussion with B.A. (Hons) Indian Philosophy students from the School of Indological Studies, Mahatma Gandhi Institute, at the State House during their educational visit at the State House on 20 May 2025.
They were accompanied by Dr Vedika Hurdoyal- Chekhori, Associate Professor.
The importance and relevance of Philosophy studies for society at large and the education system in particular, was the main focus of the students’ exchange with the President.
The President shared key insights from his academic, political and Presidential journey, elaborating on his philosophy that views politics and now his Presidency not as a pursuit of power, but as a continued commitment to serving the people and the nation in a spirit of transparency, mutual trust and accountability.
He also highlighted the need to uphold Constitutional values and principles at all times, underscoring the crucial role and responsibilities of the President of the Republic as the guardian of the Constitution.
President Gokhool reaffirmed his commitment towards fostering proximity and constructive dialogue with the youth, whose questions, reflections and voices play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Republic.
