Societal welfare and valorization of culture

In his meeting with Bishop Joseph Stenio André and Reverand So Ha MaFat of the Anglican Diocese of Mauritius today at the State House on 28 April 2025, President Dharambeer Gokhool exchanged perspectives about the pressing societal issues of drugs, poverty and projects as regards the setting up of food banks for children in need.

Measures to combat homelessness and to offer necessary support to squatters were also discussed.

The President of the Republic also welcomed members of the Managing Committee of the Northern Gahlot Rajput Federation this afternoon. Current and past activities of the Federation were reviewed.

President Dharambeer Gokhool favorably welcomed the proposal to valorise the Ghumar dance; an elegant traditional Rajasthani dance that is performed as an a way of expressing joy, invoking blessings, and showcasing rich cultural traditions.

Activities to cater to the welfare of the elderly were also elaborated.
