The Dukes of Edinburg’s International Award at State House

Wonderful moments as the State House hosted the two-day Gold Award Ceremony of the The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Mauritius this week. As President of the Republic and new Patron of this transformative programme, it was a joy to celebrate the achievements of our exceptional young people.

I commend the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their years of dedication and successful implementation of the programme. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our Awardees as well as their proud educators and parents. It is encouraging to see such strong youth participation – 261 Gold awardees this year – in a programme that complements formal education by nurturing resilience, leadership, and life skills.

As we step into an era shaped by Artificial Intelligence, our youth must navigate this new world wisely by never losing sight of emotional intelligence and spiritual awareness.
Together, let us build a Mauritius where our young people are not only skilled, but are also human and life-ready.
