President Gokhool underscores Crucial Role of School Leaders in Combating Financial Crimes through Ethics, Integrity and Transparency this Monday 10th of June 2025.
I had the pleasure to mark the opening of a national workshop on “Preventing Financial Crimes: The Role of Rectors”, jointly organised by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) and the Ministry of Education and Human Resource, at the MRA Integrated Customs Clearance Centre in Plaine Magnien yesterday.
This timely initiative regrouped rectors and school leaders from 138 public and private secondary schools across Mauritius – the frontliners of this mission who have the responsibility of shaping values, characters, personalities and ethics of our youth- and highlights our Republic’s enduring commitment to fighting financial crimes as well as cultivating a culture of ethics and accountability.
While UNESCO reminds us that “wars begin in the minds of people”, I firmly believe that the fight against corruption begins in the minds of our youth.
Together, we must ensure that honesty outweighs shortcuts; that money means nothing without merit, and that public trust is earned through personal integrity – for all of us and for our children and youth.
