His Excellency Mr Dharambeer Gokhool G.C.S.K. marked the official opening ceremony of a one-day training organized by the Mauritius Library Association in collaboration with the Lycée des Mascareignes on 23 April 2025, in the context of the World Book and Copyright Day 2025.
In his speech, President Gokhool emphasized the need to cultivate reading habits as crucial steps towards individual and societal progress, stating that if we can build a culture of reading among our population, whether online or offline, and especially among our children and youths at an early stage, many of our social problems can be reduced or resolved.
The President of the Republic also highlighted that there need not be a conflict between print and digital reading. “A harmonious balance and blend between both options can be a way forward,” he affirmed.
