An absolute joy and honour to host the laureates of the HSC batch 2024 today at the State House, in presence of the Hon’ Prime Minister Dr Navin Ramgoolam, H.E Vice President Robert Hungley, the Hon’ Minister of Education Dr Mahend Gungapersad, and other eminent personalities.<\/div><\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
I commend and congratulate our laureates as well as their parents, educators and everyone who played an instrumental role in shaping their journey.<\/div><\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
In a world dominated by Artificial Intelligence, climate change, digital economies, social transformations as well as tensions and conflicts, the future will be shaped by people who decide how technology is used, for what ends, and in whose interests.<\/div><\/div>
I urge our future leaders and innovators to embrace this new world with an open mind, responsibility courage and compassion.<\/div><\/div>
I also wish them a lot of success as they embrace adulthood and university life. In the face of setbacks and situations that push us to doubt our worth or direction, we must be resilient and patient at all times.<\/div><\/div>

As stated by well-known author Maya Angelou: “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”<\/div><\/div>
We will continue to work towards providing our youths with everything they need to fulfil their dreams.<\/div><\/div>
To our brilliant young minds: Always try to reach for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars.<\/div><\/div>
