His Excellency Ambassador Wolfgang Dold, Special Envoy of His Excellency Mr Friedrich Merz, German Chancellor, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K, President of the Republic of Mauritius, at State House this afternoon.<\/div><\/div>
He was accompanied by His Excellency Mr Oliver Knoerich, Ambassador of Germany to Mauritius with residence in Antananarivo, Madagascar; Ms Anthuber, Desk Officer to the Special Envoy, and Mr Marius Schneider, Honorary Consul of Germany in Mauritius.<\/div><\/div>
The meeting took place in the context of Germany\u2019s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2027-2028 term, with elections scheduled for June 2026. In this regard, the support of Mauritius was solicited.<\/div><\/div>
President Gokhool took the opportunity to reaffirm the strong bilateral ties between Mauritius and Germany.<\/div><\/div>
Both sides reviewed the longstanding and friendly relationship between the two countries, which dates back to 1968, and explored avenues to further strengthen cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.<\/div><\/div>
For his part, Special Envoy Ambassador Wolfgang Dold stated after his meeting with President Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K.:<\/div><\/div>
