Her Excellency Mrs Abir Alam Eldin, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Mauritius

President Gokhool welcomed Her Excellency Mrs Abir Alam Eldin, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Mauritius, for a courtesy visit at State House yesterday.
The long-standing and cordial bilateral relations between the two nations — established since 1970 and built on shared values of democracy, respect for human rights, and good governance — were reviewed.
President Gokhool took note of the bold social and economic reforms undertaken by the Arab Republic of Egypt to improve the well-being and quality of life of its people. Both sides acknowledged the significance of such initiatives in fostering inclusive and sustainable development.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to take stock of existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in key areas such as investment, trade, renewable energy, research and training, as well as the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA).
President Gokhool and Ambassador Mrs Abir Alam Eldin further explored avenues for enhanced collaboration in sectors of common interest, notably the Blue Economy, food security, aviation, tourism, pharmaceuticals, and digital technology.
Future initiatives such as the hosting of an “Egypt Cultural Salon” in Mauritius, which aims to enhance cultural visibility and promoting greater people-to-people interaction and exchange between the two nations, were welcome.
