



Mr Jayasankar Seshadri, President of the Indian Business Council Mauritius – established in 2021 and which continues to play a vital role in deepening trade and investment ties between Mauritius and India – along with council members, paid a courtesy visit to President Gokhool this morning.
They were accompanied by Mr Veepre Kureemun, representative of the Economic Development Board (EDB) – Global Outreach Asia Desk.
Conversations centered on the IBC’s robust network of Indian and Mauritian businesses across sectors such as finance, pharmaceuticals, engineering, education and more.
The President of the Republic took note of the Council’s fruitful collaborations, notably with Business Mauritius (BM), the EDB and the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), aimed at enhancing business cooperation.
The IBC’s ongoing efforts in capacity-building through workshops, seminars, and talks, were also on the discussion agenda.
President Gokhool and the delegation exchanged views on the upcoming visit of Leander Paes – Indian former professional tennis player and the first Asian man to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame – to Mauritius, spearheaded by the IBC to promote an interest in and the development of tennis among Mauritians.
The President of the Republic also reaffirmed Mauritius’ commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen economic diplomacy and reinforce the country’s position as a gateway to Africa for Trade and Investment.
