5th Edition of the Prix de Poésie Édouard Maunick

The State House came alive last evening during the award ceremony of the 5th Edition of the Prix de Poésie Édouard Maunick.
I commend Mr. Rama Poonoosamy for keeping the legacy of the late Édouard Maunick alive and inspiring new generations of writers and poets through this competition.
Congratulations to Shama Abdool Rahman, winner of this edition, for her powerful poem “Rhythm of My Heart” on the resilience and survival of women who have endured miscarriage – a theme that honours silent pain, extraordinary courage, and dignity.
I also extend my best wishes to Aanas Ruhomaully, Jean Lindsay Dhookit, and Aqiil Gopee for their soulful poems that earned the Jury’s special mention.
I was pleased to welcome Ananda Devi, one of our most distinguished literary voices, whose remarkable achievements continue to bring international recognition to Mauritius.
Mauritius is proud of its creators, and as President of the Republic, I will continue to support initiatives that nurture creativity, celebrate our cultural diversity, and empower our people through literature and the arts.
