President Dharambeer Gokhool warmly welcomed Swamini Svatmavidyananda Saraswatiji for a courtesy call at State House yesterday.
An internationally respected scholar of Advaita Vedanta and Sanskrit, and a long-standing disciple of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Swaminiji has dedicated her life to promoting Vedantic teachings across the world.
She has also played an active role in interfaith dialogue, highlighting the enduring relevance of the wisdom of the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita in addressing contemporary global challenges.
She was accompanied by Swamini Karunananda Saraswatiji, Founder of the Institute of Vedanta (Mauritius), Srimati Leckrani Soobagrah, and Sri Jeenarainsingh Soobagrah.
Discussions focused on the mission and activities of the Institute of Vedanta (Mauritius), a registered charitable association founded in March 2001.
Dedicated to offering seekers of Truth an opportunity to study Vedanta in the traditional way, the Institute is part of the Arsha Vidya tradition, with renowned teaching centres in Coimbatore and Rishikesh, India. It conducts regular weekly Bhagavad Gita classes, an annual four-month Foundation Course for beginners, as well as retreats, seminars, discussion groups and satsangas.
President Gokhool took note of the Institute’s programmes and online learning initiatives for children and young adults, which provide an insight into their cultural heritage while fostering ethical values, self-development and character formation.
