His Excellency President Dharambeer Gokhool received Mr. Joomun Arshad, Director of the M-Kids Association, in a courtesy meeting held on 7 May 2025 at the State House.
Founded with the mission of uplifting vulnerable children, M-Kids Association is a non-governmental organisation committed to supporting disadvantaged youth and underserved communities across Mauritius. The association focuses on education, social integration, and empowerment through inclusive programs and outreach initiatives.
The discussions centred on several critical areas shaping the lives of young Mauritians today:
- A Six-Month Peace Program aimed at fostering non-violence, dialogue, and mutual respect among children and youth;
- Addressing the Generation Gap, with strategies to bridge understanding and improve intergenerational communication;
- Mental Health, with a focus on providing psychological support to children and equipping caregivers and educators with the tools to respond to emotional needs;
- Parental Education, to reinforce the essential role of parents in shaping healthy, informed, and responsible citizens;
- The Technology Gap, particularly in marginalised regions, and the need to ensure equitable access to digital tools and skills.
President Gokhool commended the efforts of M-Kids Association and reiterated the importance of civic partnerships in building a more inclusive and resilient society. He expressed his firm support for initiatives that promote peace, education, and emotional well-being for all children—especially those from at-risk backgrounds.
