Happy to engage in a fruitful exchange with Karianne Oldernes Tung, Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance of the Kingdom of Norway, at the ongoing UN IGF 2025 in Oslo.
We took stock of our longstanding and friendly bilateral relations, and Minister Tung and I have agreed that our people-to-people connectivity and institutional cooperation must be further consolidated. We also revisited key milestones, including the signing of the Political Consultation Mechanism in 2019 and the recent visits of the Norwegian Ambassador to Mauritius, H.E. Mr. Haakon Gram-Johannessen, in 2024 and 2022, during which our shared commitment to sustainable ocean management and fisheries cooperation was reaffirmed.
Norway’s progress in the digitalisation of public services and its complete transition to a cashless economy are remarkable achievements that Mauritius can learn from, particularly through the establishment of an MoU that would promote the exchange of expertise and experience, while ensuring inclusivity and equitable access to digital infrastructure.
I am positive that a possible visit of Minister Karianne Oldernes Tung to Mauritius in the near future will further our dialogue and allow us to chart a path toward greater collaboration.
