

The President of the Republic met Hon’ Richard Duval, Minister of Tourism, for a productive exchange at State House yesterday afternoon.
The meeting offered a timely opportunity to review current developments within the tourism sector, which continues to show encouraging signs of recovery and resilience. President Gokhool noted with satisfaction the sustained increase in tourist arrivals to our island.
The exchange also focused on mapping a strategic path forward for the tourism sector in Mauritius through the formulation of a comprehensive and forward-looking blueprint to guide the sustainable development and long-term growth of the sector.
President Gokhool highlighted the need for strong multistakeholder collaboration in the formulation of the blueprint to ensure tangible and sustainable outcomes.
Conversations also centered on:
- Domestic tourism and the promotion of people-to-people connections across our island;
- Enhancing regional collaboration within the Vanilla Islands framework,
- The improvement of tourism infrastructure, including clearer road signage,
- The development of cruise tourism,
- A dynamic promotional strategy for Mauritius that showcases our rich cultural tapestry, natural beauty, and warm hospitality,
- The holding of International tourism events such as Kitesurfing festivals, and
- The prioritization of cleanliness and environmental preservation.
