“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.”
Moments of insighful reflection on legacy, learning, and leadership as we paid tribute to Dr. Paul Octave Wiehe: scientist, pioneer in conservation, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mauritius, and a nation-builder whose vision continues to shape our Republic.
A gathering organised by the University of Mauritius which stirred memories of my own journey at the University – beginning in 1975, just two years after Dr. Wiehe’s tenure as Vice-Chancellor- and which offered a reminder of what it means to lead through knowledge and service.
I congratulate His Eminence Mgr Denis Wiehe and all family members of Dr. Octave Wiehe for ensuring that his story lives on.
We must continue to draw inspiration from his example as we build a resilient, educated, and compassionate Mauritius.
I am particularly pleased to have launched the biography “Octave Wiehe – un Mauricien visionnaire”, a beautiful tribute to the life and work of a Mauritian of vision
