High Commissioner of Zambia presents Credentials to President Gokhool

His Excellency Mr. Derick Livune, High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia, presented his credentials to His Excellency Mr. Dharambeer Gokhool, GCSK, President of the Republic of Mauritius, at State House this morning.
The longstanding bilateral ties, formally established in 1974, as well as ongoing multilateral collaboration through SADC, the African Union, COMESA, and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), were reviewed.
Both sides also took note of the ongoing negotiations for a new Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) following the termination of the 2012 agreement.
The new treaty aims to modernise provisions, introduce stricter anti-abuse clauses, and establish shared taxing rights.
Opportunities to further consolidate cooperation were explored in key sectors such as agro-industry, health, and education, including existing collaboration in higher education under the Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme, and expanded opportunities via student exchanges and cultural programs.
President Gokhool and High Commissioner Livune exchanged perspectives and reaffirmed their commitment to diplomacy and dialogue in promoting peace and stability amid ongoing geopolitical conflicts.*High Commissioner of Zambia presents Credentials to President Gokhool*
