

Dr Abdou Salam Gueye, Resident Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) to Mauritius, paid a courtesy call on President Dharambeer Gokhool today.
During the meeting, President Gokhool commended the valuable work accomplished by former WHO Representative Dr Anne-Marie Ancia and, in the spirit of continuity, extended a warm welcome to Dr Gueye.
Discussions focused on key health priorities, including the strengthening of healthcare services, the development of traditional medicine, monitoring and improving the quality of services in public hospitals, the advancement of the e-health system, and school health projects.
The parallel import of pharmaceutical products was also raised and the need for a regulatory framework highlighted to ensure quality, safety and compliance.
