I had the honour of attending the National Celebration of World Blood Donor Day 2026 at the Municipal Council of Curepipe.
The occasion celebrated the remarkable generosity of voluntary blood donors and recognised the invaluable contribution of the Blood Donors Association, healthcare professionals, volunteers and partners who help ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for Mauritius.
In my address, I highlighted that despite remarkable advances in medicine, blood remains a gift that cannot be manufactured. It can only be given by one person to another through an act of compassion and solidarity.
I also encouraged more Mauritians, especially our youth, to embrace voluntary blood donation and help strengthen this culture of generosity for generations to come.
One donation can save several lives.
