









H.E. Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K., President of the Republic of Mauritius, at the State House this friday morning.
He was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising H.E. Mr Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India; Mr Prasanna Shrivastava, Joint Secretary (Indian Ocean Region); Mr Sandeep Bayyapu, Joint Secretary (External Affairs Minister’s Office); H.E. Ms Aparna Ganesan, Deputy High Commissioner of India; Mr Utkarsh, Under Secretary (External Affairs Minister’s Office); and Ms Prithika Rani, Under Secretary (Indian Ocean Region).
During the meeting, the longstanding and cordial bilateral relations between Mauritius and India were reviewed, with both sides expressing their shared commitment to further deepen and strengthen ties.
The exchange built on the strong momentum of the ongoing strategic partnership, in the context of the 9th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) 2026 being hosted in Mauritius, underscoring the importance of regional cooperation and dialogue, as well as the signing of a USD 655 million Memorandum of Understanding under India’s Special Economic Package 2025, which will support key projects in healthcare, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
President Dharambeer Gokhool underscored the critical importance of renewable energy in strengthening Mauritius’ resilience and welcomed the collaboration between India and Mauritius as a key step forward in advancing sustainable development.
He also highlighted the unique and enduring nature of the partnership between Mauritius and India, rooted in shared values and a long history of cooperation across sectors including education, healthcare, trade and investment, maritime security, arts and culture, and, most importantly, strong people-to-people ties.
The President of the Republic conveyed his sincere gratitude and appreciation for India’s continued and valued support to Mauritius, particularly in navigating challenges and advancing national development priorities.
