This afternoon, I had the pleasure of participating in the launch of the book “Law of Banking in Mauritius”, authored by Mr Siv Pottayya.
An important contribution to Mauritian legal scholarship and professional knowledge.
This publication represents far more than the launch of a book.
It reflects years of experience, research and dedication towards strengthening legal understanding within an area that plays a fundamental role in our economy and institutions.
I paid tribute to Mr Siv Pottayya for this remarkable achievement and for his contribution towards enriching our local body of legal literature.
Such works serve not only legal practitioners and members of the judiciary, but also students, young barristers, academics and professionals who seek a deeper understanding of Mauritian law.
As Mauritius continues to position itself as a respected international financial centre, we must recognise that banking and finance are evolving rapidly through technology and innovation.
Digital banking, financial technologies, artificial intelligence and emerging systems are transforming the way societies function, while also bringing new challenges relating to cybersecurity, digital fraud, privacy and regulation.
Knowledge remains one of the strongest pillars upon which strong institutions are built. Every serious contribution to scholarship strengthens professional culture, enriches learning and ultimately supports the development of our Republic.
I extend my warmest congratulations to Mr Siv Pottayya and wish his publication every success in becoming an important reference for generations to come.
