Venture, Culture and Future on the National agenda as President Gokhool officially opened the first-ever Mauritius Art and Culture Investment Summit (MACIS) on Monday evening!
This landmark initiative is being held under the aegis of the Mauritius International Art Fair (MIAF) and led by Ms Zaahirah Muthy, CEO of ZeeArts Ltd, together with key partners and collaborators such as the Ministry of Arts and Culture.
It brings together local and international artists, policymakers, investors, and cultural leaders to reimagine the role of arts and culture as drivers of sustainable development, economic growth, and social inclusion.
In his keynote address, President Gokhool emphasised that art is both a mirror and a messenger – reflecting our realities while inspiring the path forward.
He highlighted the growing importance of the creative economy, the need to empower cultural industries, and the role of the arts in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals such as SDG 4 on quality education; SDG 5 on Gender Equality, and SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth.
President Gokhool also underscored the importance of inclusive narratives, particularly in amplifying Africa’s voice on the global stage – affirming that culture is not only heritage, but a powerful force shaping our future.
The MACIS 2026 builds on Mauritius’ commitment to strengthening its creative ecosystem, fostering regional collaboration, and unlocking new opportunities for artists and cultural entrepreneurs.
A defining moment for Mauritius – where Venture meets Culture, and together, they shape the Future.
