

































What a joy to attend the Prize-Giving Ceremony of the MIE Mathematics Video Competition 2026, held this morning at the Mauritius Institute of Education in Réduit.
Under the theme “Celebrating Mathematics through History and Culture”, the competition encouraged students to combine mathematical knowledge, creativity, digital skills and teamwork through video storytelling.
In his address, the President highlighted the importance of mathematical literacy in Mauritius’ digital transformation and encouraged students to remain curious, think critically and recognise mathematics in the world around them.
His Excellency warmly congratulated all the prize winners and participants for their enthusiasm, dedication and creativity. He also commended the MIE and its Mathematics Education Department, as well as the teachers, parents and schools whose guidance and support contributed to the success of the competition.
The President encouraged the MIE to sustain this innovative initiative and inspire more young Mauritians to discover the beauty of mathematics and use it creatively to shape the future.
