Productive Meetings: Corruption Perceptions Index & Disability Empowerment and Inclusion

President Dharambeer Gokhool received the Acting Director-General of the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), Mr Titrudeo Dawoodarry, for a meeting on Friday 13 February 2026 at State House, during which they took stock of the current situation regarding corruption in Mauritius, including recent findings from the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), which assesses perceived levels of public sector corruption worldwide.
Mauritius scored 48 out of 100, ranking 61st globally, marking a decline from the previous year.
Discussions also focused on ongoing investigations, legal constraints, operational challenges, and the complex loopholes involved in tackling financial crimes.
The meeting covered key highlights from the FCC Bulletin, outlining investigative realities, enforcement actions, asset recovery efforts, and preventive measures aimed at strengthening governance, transparency, and accountability.
In his meeting with Mr Philippe Balin, Vice-President of The Hand in Cap association, conversations centred on identifying needs for training programmes and support mechanisms, including assistance from the Embassy of France, to strengthen inclusion and empowerment initiatives.
This meeting built on the momentum of the roundtable forum on Disability Empowerment and Inclusion convened by the Presidency in July 2025, which led to the setting up of an Inter-Ministerial Committee on Disabilities.
