Round Table on Disabilities and Inclusion

This morning, I chaired a Round Table Forum on Disabilities and Inclusion together with H.E. Ms. Lisa Singh, UN Resident Coordinator for Mauritius and Seychelles, and Mr. Satyajit Boolell SC, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, at the State House.
A crucial and timely initiative which is close to my heart, reflective of the broader vision that I hold for our Republic, and which regrouped over 30 members from various civil society organisations as well as members of different governmental and international agencies working in the disabilities sector.
We took stock of past and ongoing efforts by various stakeholders; identified gaps and challenges, and discussed practical steps we can take together in the right direction to enhance synergy and make greater impact.
Equity, dignity and inclusion must move beyond intention and slogans to become sustainable actions grounded in empathy, guided by evidence, and carried out in unity.
This forum is the first step in a longer journey.
As President of the Republic, I will continue to listen, convene, and encourage collective purpose to build a nation where every citizen feels seen, valued, and empowered.
