Sir Maurice Rault Memorial Lecture on “The Rule of Law in the Biggest Democracy”

An honour to attend the Inaugural Sir Maurice Rault Memorial Lecture on “The Rule of Law in the Biggest Democracy”, delivered by the Honourable Chief Justice of India, Mr. Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai, at the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium this afternoon.
An opportunity to engage in profound reflection on constitutionalism and the importance of safeguarding constitutional values, through landmark cases relating to provisions such as Article 21 ( Right to Personal Liberty) and Article 15 (Prohibition of discrimination on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex, or place of birth) of the Indian Constitution.
A timely reminder that the rule of law is a vital ethical framework for justice, equality, and social progress – values deeply shared by both India and Mauritius.
