President Dharambeer Gokhool and Mrs. Brinda Gokhool marked the occasion with a symbolic tree planting at the Ayurvedic Garden as work progresses on Phase II of the project.
The President planted a Cherry Tree (Prunus avium), symbolising growth, harmony and environmental stewardship.
Joining him, the High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, H.E. Shri Anurag Srivastava, planted a Kumquat Lime Tree (Citrus japonica), a plant valued both for its vibrant fruit and its traditional Ayurvedic benefits.
With Phase I of the Ayurvedic Garden now completed and Phase II underway, the project aims to promote balance through the preservation and cultivation of medicinal and traditional plants, while celebrating the rich heritage of Ayurvedic knowledge.
The initiative also reflects our shared commitment to environmental sustainability and the strengthening of cultural and wellness traditions.
